Nicotine as treatment for Marijuana Withdrawal
Permalink

http://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT01400243?term=marijuana&rank=18

Yep, NIDA and several other institutions are seeking out methods to treat marijuana withdrawal, apparently. I am not saying that marijuana withdrawal does not occur, but using nicotine or many of the other methods used in clinical trials to alleviate such symptoms, is quite ridiculous. The first thing I noticed upon looking at the link above, is that the NIDA is involved. In fact, just a quick search for 'marijuana' on clinicaltrials.gov will popup dozens of trials looking to treat "marijuana withdrawal" or "marijuana dependence". A large number of those trials are collaborated by the NIDA (however, that's not really a big surprise considering their dominance in the field).

Anyhow, my point in bringing this up is my feeling of a forced perception that marijuana withdrawal is so severe that it is necessary to give people  potentially more harmful pharmaceuticals. Now, I can walk away from this because I find it ridiculous, but the NIDA is a large organization that many still believe are telling the truth about cannabis. Not only that, the NIDA is just another massive organization that has a history of discontinuing trials that show positive results of cannabis use.

All in all, I shake my head, roll my eyes, and move on....except that, the NIDA and drug rehabilitation industry have so much influence that I have seen the negative outcome by those organizations' anti-cannabis ideology carried out through the courts.

Lastly, think about this, according to the NIDA we are all drug addicts who need to be treated forf our drug dependency. Regardless of laws considering medical marijuana, all that is a needed is a judge to decide that you are an addict, without any medical knowledge, and you will be forced through drug rehabilitation only to take the more harmful drugs that dominate the rehabilitation industry. On a positive note, this shows me those organizations are doing all they can to demonize cannabis, which means the tide is turning more and more towards the truth.

Thanks for letting me loosely rant, and the (actually) last thing I want to say is, I would rather my daughter consume cannabis than nicotine (even by the patch) any day.

I wish everyone well,

Mojgor

Lol. Same here. I quit smoking tobacco almost a year ago. It would have been more difficult if it weren't for medical cannabis and vaporization.

Also, something not often told, cannabis can ease the severe physical and psychological pains from alcohol/heroin withdrawal.
