I have recently stumbled upon this great forum and think You may be able to help me.
Most of my life I have suffered from severe debilitating depression. It makes my life miserable and the world seems like a dark, sad and unforgiving place. It is so bad some times that I cant get out of bed. I always worry about stuff that I shouldn't and fear the unknown. I have also always suffered from bad social anxiety and that definitely doesn't help the matter of going out into the world. The overall stress also takes a toll on my body. I feel weak and my body aches. I have been on long term disability for it for around 8 years now and have tried so many different meds I cant count. SSRIs, SNRIs, non-tricyclic antidepressants, mood stabilizers, you name it.
That said there is something that has always helped and that is marijuana. Particularly the sativa dominant ones. After just a couple hits or so the world becomes a much brighter place. The dark shroud is lifted and I am able to smile! I feel more confident and less shy. The sativas actually give me energy and my body aches disappear! The problem is that of course it was illegal up until the proposition passed so I would only use it occasionally.
Anyway, I would like to apply for a card but don't know if depression is an approved medical condition for it. I never see it listed. Does any one know if my condition would be approved?
Thanks. Unfortunately I'm not prescribed anything for the body aches. I have been told that some of the antidepressants are supposed to help aches and pains, but has not been the case for me. Maybe I will talk to my doctor about adding something for them. I do find it unfortunate that depression isn't an approved medical condition, as marijuana is the best antidepressant there is.
Yeah, I will see what my doctor can do. He is a great guy but don't think he would be so hot on the medical marijuana idea. I will also look into the process of adding medical conditions to the list. The fact that PTSD is approved shows it's possible.
Thanks Popeye! I see what you mean by being reluctant to tell the doc about the pain and my preferable treatment. I will definitely make an appointment to see him soon to discuss this! No broken bones or radiology reports here both fortunately and unfortunately. I appreciate the advice!
Thank you so much Green Giant! Got the PM and will be giving her a call for sure! Seems like she will be understanding and be able to help! I agree that body, mind and spirit are all related and feel that marijuana will help that synergy. Aside from body pain depression in a way "is" pain to me. It can cause just as much discomfort.
