Wow. This is the quietest messageboard I've ever seen.
I'd like to know what local folks think about the law. Not as it reads, not how it should be, etc... but how it is being enforced currently.
I've been messing around with a plant or 5 on a personal level for 20 years. Though I have a chronic back injury that I have a prescription for, and could easily qualify for a card, I'm not sure it's worth the hassle in my situation.
I don't exchange it. I don't ever travel with it, and I feel like, why would I ever want the State or Federal Gov to be aware of me on any level that is unnecessary. I'm pretty sure, at some point, if they wanted, the Feds would have easy access to that info.
So, flying below the radar as I do, and have for a very long time...can anyone explain WHY I would want to pay $300-ish PER YEAR for this "privilage"?
Unless you have an interest in production, sales, or some other entrepreneurial agenda within the arena, I simply cannot see an advantage.
If people are still calling an mmj card a "cheap insurance policy" it isn't working. At least not yet.
I'm sure I'm missing something here, so please...steer me back in the right direction!
the only people getting popped are the dumbasses ****ing around on craigslist and the big money so called 'collectives'...im not worried bout no danm cops .thier after the serious money people being idiots not the gram folks and paitents...too much unnecessary paranoia
Six months ago the community discussed and predicted this crackdown when the dispensaries open.
The cops will continue bending the law till a case or two is brought before a judge and the legal presedents are set. Then the cops will then have rules to follow as opposed to interpeting the law whatever way they want...

I have heard horror stories of how people are unable to get medical insurance, getting raided by local police, getting held up during mmj transactions, etc...
Good thoughts!
It's so ironic that one of the patients we deal with actually had their health insurance company pay the 'caregiver' fee because they decided it was cheaper to make her a patient than pay the claim for prescription meds obtained in a dispensary.
go figure.

first its not the dumbasses such as theo getting busted its everyday people who go to craigslist to find meds (mothers,daughters,sons,fathers,etc...) and tpd dont care who or what they ruin in the way of busting the all mighty weed. and yes they are busting the gram people. dont be uninformed tpd is skirting the law cause we have no lawyers here in tucson to help anyone on the mmj part. if you do get the card i say tuck it deep in your wallet cause its only gonna help so much.
Actually, I have considered this question more and more since I got my card. Initially I thought "owe this is great, it will be like ca." but the more I observe what is going on the less I feel it was a good decision. Now I am "certified" with the state as a mmj user. THEY NOW KNOW WHO WE ARE this may be a mistake. Only time will tell.

I have tried to be very careful. I was a mmj user as a youth, and learned to be careful as it was illegal.I didn't use mmj for many years in between then and now. Some of the people coming in and getting thier cards who never grew up "doing it " are not so careful, and have become prey to unscrupulous "dealers" and the police because of their lack of experience.
I am afraid that until the feds declassify, or legalize it we will be at the mercy of them and all law enforcement. It is essential we know our rights and stand up for them.

The insurance co. paid the caregiver fee ? For an independent caregiver ? Are they covering med costs for mmj ? Maybe there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

One reason I got a card is because I am still unfortunately pretty dependant on the goodwill of my pain specialist doctors and neurologist. They supply me with pills I need to function. My hope is to cut down on pill use with mmj. But my pill pushers get to drug test me any time they want if I want to keep getting the pills. So if I test positive for " illegal street drugs" such as pit, they can cut me off. If I test positive for mmj, my docs are ok with that.

This is just speaking on the reasons why i personally became a patient.. You have to cover your A$$ as much as you can these days.. After being illegally searched and pulled over by law enforcement twice in a month, paying a 1400.00 fine for possession and doing 200 hours of community service and countless sessions of counseling in which it seems like i teach the class.. i'm the the star student..ha .. all for a gram of blueberry. I said to myself 350.. is a lot cheaper than all the time wasted. Because time can never be given back.. not to mention i am now a criminal for life. A drug charge for no matter what will seriously effect and limit your choices.. background checks.. even for a plant. 30 years old never had a issue always kept it low key.. don't smoke and drive.. not visible ever.. But if a cop wants u.. he got's u.. you just got to cover your a$$ as much as possible these days.. because all they want is your time and money and unfortunately marijuana pays the bills.. You can either pay for it now.. or later.
