On a scale of 1 -10, how would you rate your experience in using MMJ? I would give my overall experience a 7. While MMJ works very well for my medical condition, it caused personal issues and has been cost intensive. I spent around $100 for MMJ the first month. My narcotics cost a fraction of that a month.

I would like to hear your stories.

My experience with mmj has been very positive. I was unable to find any prescription meds to help with my migraine's. Doc's would not prescribe narcotics for my migraines nor did I want them. I am not a heavy user of mmj. My condition is not a daily thing like alot of other patients so I don't need much in the way of meds monthly.

I have a very good friend who was in a bad motorcycle accident where another harley ran over her. Her back was messed up bad and 2 years and multiple operations later she was hooked on pain management prescription meds like oxy. She was able to get off the oxy, and morphine through the use of mmj.

She is the one who suggested the mmj for my headaches while visiting her in Ca. It was the only thing I have tried that worked. She and her husband who also uses mmj for side effects from treatment for Hepatitus allowed me to have some mmj.

I found it very ironic that she used mmj to get off the heavy narcotics. All the reefer madness stuff, and media and authorities always calling mmj a gateway drug the hard drugs.

So, so far my experience has been good. 1-10 I would say 8. Sometimes I dont like the psphoactive effects when I over medicate. I have learned that less is more in my older age. I had a 15 year break from when I smoked as a young adult for recreation. Today I generally only use mmj to medicate my migraines.

Thank you for sharing your experiences. Your friend's case clearly shows that the propaganda spewed by politicians that marijuana is a "gateway drug" does not hold water. MMJ is helping people get off hard drugs. As long pharmaceutical companies line the politicians pockets, this insane rhetoric will continue. Why is it acceptable that we destroy our bodies using synthetic chemicals when the best medicine is natural? I realize I am preaching to the choir on this.

I appreciate your time in replying to this post.

I am very pleased to hear how well MMJ has worked for you, Vito. Quality of life should be the overriding factor in any medical decision. I will say my quality of life has improved since using MMJ. Thank you for sharing your experiences. We need more stories like yours to convince the politicians and the public of the benefits of MMJ.

Just a side note, non mmj related, but I am so excited to be trying my new rose tinted spectacles. I guess they keep lightwaves from causing the brain to spasm, which in turn prevents migraines. Might want to check it out.

As you may have already read in another post, so far mmj experience has been about a 3. I am dependent on oxycodone and soma to barely function through the day, and I hate that stuff. Docs won't increase the soma, so I turned to mmj to try to sleep better.hoping eventually I can cut down on the pills once I get this worked out. It works ok, but I need to try different strains. I am still trying to work out how to GET any, guess I have to be quick when meds are offered here. I'm posting this to say that although it hasn't been great for me, I have faith it will help, and I am not giving up.
My family is ok with this, as they have seen the long string of meds I have tried and seen how hopeless my chronic pain condition makes me feel. I have small children, and it's been weird to do this with them looking on. My 9 yr old wants to know about this strange new green medicine . I have shown it to him, let him smell the buds, and explained what it does. I don't know if we will have a problem with the kids taking my meds when they are older, but it would be better by far if they got hold of the green stuff instead of a handful of pills.

I'm at 10, and here is a small part of my story..

I stop using weed around 1997, when I started working for a fortune 50 company that had an "anti-dopping" policy. At that time the job was more important than feeling good..

In September of 2009 I was laid off after 12 years of service for Motorola, so no job, no health insurance and feeling that I was better of dead.

I started my road to financial recovery in January 2010 when I invested my life savings on a business, by July of 2010 the stress associated with my financial situation and my deteriorating health was taking a toll on me. My brother recommended that I should start using cannabis, but due to the fact that it was illegal I did not want to do it. Around the same time I heard of prop 203, so in November I voted in favor of prop 203, IT PASSED, YEAH!..

In July of 2011, I talked to my wife and kids (adults) about what they thought of me trying MMJ to help me cope with my issues, there response was " We love you, if that is going to make you feel better, do it" I made the decision and got certified. That same day I got ahold of a 1/4 oz of white widow and smoked some. Initially I didn't enjoy it, it freaked me out and was not ready for how strong MMJ was, and it was only one hit! But once I started to relax, I felt the medicinal effect it had on me and started to see the benefits of the herb, but I still didn't think it was right for me.

I did some research and found a forum thread of a gentlemen explaining the benefits of "Vaporizing" versus smoking (thanks Vito), which led me to purchase an MFLB. I started to vape and experiment with different strains.. The improvements in my health and state of mind since I started vaping have been very positive, my nausea, pain, and depression are all well under control.

I believe that vaping the medicine instead of smoking it, besides the already well documented benefits of vaping vs. smoking, goes a long way in changing the stigma that MMJ has when you smoke it. I personnaly do not like the smell of burnt weed and non users just start to freak out when they smell it!

Since aquiring my MFLB I have not smoke anything, I even stopped smoking my cuban cigars that I liked so much, I am 100% smoke free!

My wife and family have never seen me medicate, but they are very aware that I do it and of the positive impact that MMJ has had in my life and theirs. My wife and family are 100% supportive of me using it and are now convinced of the medicinal qualities of this great herb.

My wife has never consumed weed or illegal drugs, and has always been against them, but after seeing how it's help me, and how I didn't turn into an out of control pot head, is now starting to spread the word of the great benefits of MMJ.

MMJ has been a real blessing for me and the people that love me.......

Thank you all for the very kind words. I am indeed very fortunate to have such a loving family!!

Just like all other families, we have our ups and downs, we just made a concious decision to not let the day-to-day issues (debts, taxes, forgetting to take the trash out, etc.) get in the way of trying to be as happy as we can in a daily basis, not a very easy thing to do.

This is where our wonderful medicine, the patients that grow it, the patients that are teaching me how to live, the patients that make those wonderful edibles, the patients that created this great site, are helping me feel so much better, which makes it easier to reach my daily goal..

Thank you

Thanks for sharing your story Warlock. Your honesty with your family I think is key. Honesty is the best policy as my mom always told me.
