I am on a fixed income and have awful nausea, so believe me when I say; it is well worth it... Also, my snap card help get the cost down.

Yes cannabis can help but you need to be careful on the strains that you use some will increase anxiety. The cost of a card can be had for about $250 and $175 if you are on snap. The canditions you have don't qualify but you may still gualify for a card because of the drugs you are on.

Hey, ropeadope,

Bob's right - you want something mellow. And if you're depressed, you don't want couchlock. Right now, I'm having good results with Blue Venom. I'm just starting to treat myself, so I'll be trying a variety of med strains to see what works best for me . If you go to Leafly, you can research the qualities of different strains. Sativa hybrids should be helpful.

As far as qualifying conditions go, depression isn't on AZ's list at this time. Hearings are being held on 25 May to consider additional medical conditions: http://www.azdhs.gov/medicalmarijuana/debilitating/index.htm . You will find links to qualifying conditions on the site, as well.

Go through the list of conditions that do qualify, and start seeing a doc for one of them if you don't already see a regular physician. Your medical record must show you have and/or are being treated for a qualifying condition. Chronic, persistent pain is one of the qualifying conditions.

The docs who do the evaluation go through your history. If you don't have a history, you need to establish one. Being treated for chronic pain might require you go to a doc, complain about pain, have diagnostic studies that indicate a tangible condition, may need to start taking prescription medications for pain and or inflammation, with or without improvement, to prove you are being treated for the condition.

You have to show you have a condition - my records have xrays, MRIs, history of prescribed medication, evaluations by specialists, etc. You don't necessarily need all of that, but you need something. When you say you have pain, that's subjective. When an xray or an MRI shows joint space narrowing, spondylosis, or some other visible indication that things aren't normal, that's objective, as is a physician's recorded findings of redness, swelling, limited range of motion.

Becoming certified is costly, and that is disappointing. Most other states charge less to get a card, but AZ was late to get on board, with a very bad economy. I hated to spend the $$ b/c I'm on disability, but I'm very glad I became certified. I qualified for my card on the basis of chronic pain, but I'm treating myself for a mood disorder.

Best of luck, I would suggest you get your card ASAP.

Hi there,

I live in Tucson, I'm 26. Was wondering if marijuana might help with bad anxiety/panic attacks and maybe depression also?

Sometimes I can't stop thinking about something, and I obsess and obsess over it for days. I feel like maybe Marijuana could sort of take my mind to another place. Basically sometimes I just need to mellow the **** out!

My next question would be could I even get perscribed medical marijuana for conditions like anxiety and depression or would those be considered too trivial?

Also wondering about what the cost would be because from reading some posts here, geeting a greencard sounds like it may cost a lot more than I'd want to get into. Afterall I'm not sure if marijuana is the answer I'm looking for (never tried any). I was reading around $350 or so total? That would be a big prob since I don't have very much money at all. I am on food stamps though, I read you can get the fee cut in half if you're on a program like that. I work for my parents in exchange for a place to stay. If I ever wanted something they might give me some buck, we have a real good relationship, but if I told them I was looking into medical marijuana they would think I was insane! So yeah the money could be a big prob.

Thanks for reading!

Some meds produce side effects that do qualify so check with a dr like Heather Moroso to see if you qualify good luck.

Many thanks for the info. My medical records will definitely show a long history of prescribed anti-anxiety/depression medications, which definitely help but obviously don't fully negate all anxiety/panic attacks/depression. I'm not in any physical pain. Was sort of thinking I'd smoke marijuana if I was getting really anxious or depressed which happens from time to time. I wonder how strains are chosen or if it's sort of random as to what you get?

Still very hard to see myself getting qualified anytime in the near future, $175 is a lot of dough and like I said my Parents would think I was nuts if I said I wanted to try medicinal marijuana :p - But if I find a way to try and do it, I guess seeing Dr. Morso would be the place to start.

Dr. Moroso's fee is $99., application processing $30., state fee $150 reduced to $75 if on snap.

if you mention TMM, you can get the $30 fee reduced to $11.

so:

99+75+11

When you get your card, contact TucsonBob for the new collective: "I just got my card" gift program...

How much will the total $$$ be do you think? Say if I just made an appointment with Dr. Moroso and got approved for a green card. Like I said I'm on food stamps also so I know there's a bit of a discount there but with the cost of the appointment and everything else will it be over $300?

Just an FYI - AZDHS should have a ruling around mid-July on the additional diagnoses presented at the meeting last week and determine which will be added to Arizona's list of qualifying conditions. Hopefully depressive and anxiety disorders will be among those added to the list.

I tried to email Dr Moroso and didn't get a response. Perhaps an outdated email. Anyone know an email I could contact her or the office at or should I just quit being a baby and make an appointment? :p

Hey again,

I saw Dr Moroso. It sounds like getting medical marijuana may be too complicated right now for me since legally behavioral issues are not currently covered. Cat22 said above there may be a ruling around mid-july to add additional diagnoses that will be covered. Is it likely they will add anxiety and/or depression to list of diagnoses covered? That could make things much simpler. Right now there's just a lot of finagling to do to get an MMJ card. Also, apparently there's no dispensaries in town at the moment, so that's another problem.

Having a lot more depression than anxiety lately :{

I never get email replies back from Dr. Moroso's office, no matter what email address I send from, I think it might be borked.

I hope depression/anxiety is covered in the near future.

Not sure what email address you've tried, but I know Dr Moroso gets a ton of email.

You'd probably get a quicker response going through her office - drmorosoasst@gmail.com

bump

hey again folks. I would still really like to try some marijuana - I've been depressed lately, not really anxious as much but still have a panic attack once a month or so. Also have chronic fatigue so I'm tired a lot and taking lots of naps (probably something marijuana would not help)

I don't suppose the laws have changed for medical marijuana here in Tucson in the last five months since I checked? It hasn't been too long.

Was told sativa is better for depression, is that accurate or doesn't really matter so much?

PM me with any private information that may help.

Well when I last tried to get a card it was very restricted and there were no medical marijuana dispensaries in Tucson at the time anyways. Plus it was like $200 or something for a card, i forget.
