Hello, MMJ Advocates here is your chance to speak. Looking for a patient or Doctor to talk at the U of A. Here is copy of email I just received. My name is Meredith Hochhalter. I am with the ACLU (U of A Law Chapter). We are looking for someone to speak on the topic of medical marijuana. Do you know any doctors or patents who would be willing to spend 45 min talking to the school.
f*ck a doctor get a patient..if you cant find no one ill do it bob although my public speaking skills are a little rustyi do have a good amount of knowledge on the subject though
The 45 min is total time commitment. We usually have food out, people grab the pizza and get settled, then there is an into, the speaker says a little, then a Q&A. The 5 panel would be AMAZING! We were really hoping for a patient and doctor, but if you can get the whole team together, that would be great. The thing is we are trying to show the legit side of medical marijuana. An older person with glaucoma would be ideal. Law students are cynical and a twenty year old male wearing hemp and flip flops will be interpreted (especially by our arch enemies the Federalists) as abusing the system. It doesn't matter how much he needs the marijuana. The doctor and lawyer should also be presentable. I can't really imagine a situation where a doctor or lawyer would not be. As long as they have a license, don't work out of their van down by the river, and are presentable. For the Q&A we'd like them to stay away from recreational marijuana as much as possible. We are the ACLU - nothing is tabu, but the idea is to show this as necessary. Recreational use is by definition recreational. You should have them prepare a tactful topic shift when someone inevitably asks, if they want to.
Just received this from the UCLA. Hi Robert, I have good news and bad news. The good news is that the ACLU at the State level got tired of my President and I bickering and stepped in. They think medical marijuana is an important topic, and want to make sure that you are heard. That means a Rep from Phoenix is going to come down and make sure that you get the appropriate attention, and everything goes smoothly. The ACLU may be willing to help (down the line), particularly the doctors, if their civil liberties are being seriously violated. I can't make that a promise. Money is really tight, but if nothing else I'm excited about the people with the purse strings seeing what is going on in Tucson. I think Phoenix forgets about us sometimes. It also means the date has to be changed. The person in charge has already committed to speak somewhere else that day. I am so sorry. If there is anything I can do to make it up to you, I will do my best. I want to make absolutely sure I know what our options are before I give you the potential dates, but I wanted to give you a heads up. I know this has been a giant pain, but thank you for sticking with me. I think it will be worth it.
I have a newer patient that is also a professional SAG film director, editor and has his own camera and sound guys. Offered his abilities and expertise to help us film anything that will help the cause. PM me.
